Job Purpose

To implement, maintain, and support the organization’s IT network infrastructure and ensure seamless connectivity as well as secure communication systems. The Network Administrator ensures operational availability, reliability and efficiency of the network to support UEDCL’s distribution core functions.

Impact: The role holder ensures continuous uptime and secure network operations directly influencing UEDCL’s ability to provide reliable electricity distribution services. (s)he supports key business operations by delivering robust, scalable and secure IT networking solutions.

Key Result Areas

  1. Setup, configuration, and maintenance of network devices, ensuring minimal downtime and high performance
  2. Implementation of network security protocols and regular updates to protect against cyber threats
  3. Timely resolution of network issues and user connectivity problems
  4. Accurate documentation of network configurations, incidents, and maintenance activities
  5. Deployment of upgrades and expansions to accommodate growing organizational needs
  6. Adherence to ICT policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

Expected Output

  1. A well maintained and configured network
  2. An up-to-date secure network
  3. 90> of all network issues resolved within a day
  4. Accurate documentation of all network configurations, incidents, and maintenance activities
  5. Upgraded systems
  6. Compliant systems and procedures.

Person Specifications

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field
  • Professional certifications in networking such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Network+ are strongly preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in network administration, implementation, and maintenance
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls) and software
  • Proven track record in managing LAN/WAN environments and troubleshooting complex network issues.

Competencies

  • Strong Proficiency in networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Familiarity with firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of cloud networking and virtual environments is a plus
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve network issues effectively
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly
  • Precise and accurate in implementing and documenting network configurations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other ICT team members to ensure system reliability.

Working Environment

  • Office-based with occasional travel to other company facilities as required
  • May require availability during off-hours for emergency support or system upgrades.
