Job Summary;

The Procurement Buyer implements Procurement strategies in close cooperation with the Procurement Manager/Head of Procurement. Manages the operational and tactical procurement of local goods and services including the sourcing, negotiating and contracting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Researching new suppliers for low value spot purchases and presenting them to the Procurement managers for screening.

• Sourcing and comparing prices from several suppliers for all value spot purchases.

• Negotiating prices and delivery dates.

• Checking that goods and services are fit for purpose and meet with the company’s requirements prior to order placement.

• Making sure goods arrive on time, and ensure that suppliers are paid on time.

• Building relationship with low value spot purchase suppliers, conducting quarterly reviews.

• Monitor and advise on any issues which present a risk or opportunity to the business.

• Create local purchase orders for suppliers, equipment and services within authorized limits.

Required Qualifications skills and attributes.

Technical Competencies

• Bachelors Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or a related qualification from a recognized University.

• Postgraduate qualifications in CIPS or its equivalent is an added advantage.

• Minimum of 3 years experience in a Procurement role (Sourcing, Operation) with exposure to Supply Chain management, strategic sourcing and optimal procurement processes and standards.

• Knowledge and skills in Electronic Procurement, and Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) like SAP is an added advantage.

• Demonstrated performance in working within cross-functional teams Profile & Personal Qualities

• Good written and oral Communication skills and good stakeholder management skills.

• High integrity and confidentiality.

• Right attitude to work in a demanding, challenging and busy environment.

• Ability to work extended hours.
